D.I.G. Framework
Every question in The Black Mind follows our three-part D.I.G. Framework—Discuss, Internalize, Give—designed to move conversations from broad awareness to personal truth. First, players explore the bigger picture through cultural and societal context. Then, they reflect inward on how the topic impacts their own life. Finally, they share a real story that brings the conversation to life. It’s a simple structure with powerful results—creating space for vulnerability, connection, and lasting impact.

DISCUSS – The Bigger Picture
We begin with the world around us by discussing. This part of the D.I.G. Framework prompts players to explore the cultural, historical, and systemic influences behind a topic. Instead of jumping straight into emotions, we first unpack how society shapes the conversation.
The Question asks what are the external forces at play.
The Responder reflects on broader group experiences, grounding the topic in context before going personal.
The Listener gains knowledge, widens their lens, and learns to see beyond their own perspective.
Why it matters: Before we heal individually, we must understand the systems that shaped us. The Discuss question creates the foundation for truth-telling that’s rooted in history and culture.

INTERNALIZE – Personal Reflection
This is where things get real. Once the bigger picture is clear, players are guided inward to reflect on how the topic personally shows up in their own lives. It’s not just about what we think—it’s about what we feel and believe.
The Question shifts focus towards how the topic affects you.
The Responder explores their emotions, values, and lived experience.
The Listener develops empathy, building deeper connection through shared vulnerability.
Why it matters: Internalize creates emotional resonance. It’s where intellectual awareness becomes lived truth, setting the stage for connection—not just conversation.

GIVE – Storytelling & Application
The final layer invites players to share a personal story—something real, something lived—that brings the topic to life. It’s where reflection becomes action, and healing becomes collective.
The Question asks the players to give an example from their life to express a lived experience.
The Responder offers a concrete moment, using storytelling to humanize the topic.
The Listener feels emotionally drawn in, inspired to relate, and maybe even ready to act.
Why it matters: Give transforms vulnerability into connection. Stories help us remember, feel, and change—not just as individuals, but as a community.
