WHO'S PLAYING MATTERS
At The Black Mind, we believe identity is layered—and every layer matters. While this edition centers the voices of Black men and Black women, we recognize that gender identity and expression extend far beyond the binary. We welcome trans, nonbinary, queer, and LGBTQIA+ players to engage with the questions that best reflect their lived experiences.
Many prompts intentionally explore the intersections of race, gender, and sexual orientation—because our healing is not one-dimensional. Whether you’re navigating single-gender spaces, mixed-gender circles, or racially diverse groups, this game is designed to honor complexity, affirm truth, and create space where every voice is valid and valued.

Single Gender Gameplay
When all players identify as Black men or Black women, this format allows for focused dialogue rooted in shared lived experience. Players use the question cards that correspond with their gender identity, creating a space that centers cultural specificity, emotional safety, and collective truth-telling.

Multiple Gender Gameplay
In groups with multiple gender identities, each player answers questions aligned with their own lived identity. This format creates space for nuance and intersectionality—including for those who are nonbinary, trans, or fluid. It invites dialogue across difference, while respecting each person’s unique relationship to gender and culture.

Mixed Race Gameplay
While The Black Mind centers Black voices and experiences, many topics resonate beyond race. In mixed-race groups, non-Black players are encouraged to listen deeply, engage with care, and contribute only when invited. This structure preserves the cultural integrity of the game while allowing for shared reflection and growth.
